Twenty-three-year-old Olivia Burton is moving to California with her boyfriend, 24-year-old Francis Morales, against the wishes of her family. Francis’ mother, Lillian, is a devout Catholic who disapproves of her son’s cohabitation and expresses her feelings in the form of violent, religious-themed postcards. Despite these objections, the young lovers settle into an exciting new life together. However, their happiness is cut short after a freak accident leaves Francis physically and mentally injured.
